At Birds of Play, our mission is to celebrate and protect the natural world and the people who rely on it. This playing card project is brought to you by us, Lily and Luke! Lily is a life-long bird-nerd and artist, who designed the Birds of Play deck from the raptors to the fonts. Luke is an aspiring doctor, hobbyist programmer and photographer, who designed our website and takes our promotional pictures. When we aren’t working on Bird of Play, we study chemical engineering and neuroscience at Georgia Tech.

The Birds of Play deck showcases the incredible diversity of birds of prey, featuring a different raptor on every card. From the pygmy falcon to the great gray owl, each bird is uniquely adapted to their world. Some can withstand scorching heat (like the bearded vulture) or brave sub-zero temperatures (like the gyrfalcon), while others (like the peregrine falcon) can thrive in ranges so wide, they encompass all continents but Antarctica. With the Birds of Play deck you can experience the fascinating world of raptors while playing the card games you love.

This deck aims to represent not only the beauty of the natural world, but the joy and creation it inspires. At Birds of Play, we believe that when we advocate for the planet we must also advocate for the communities that rely on it. For that reason, all future proceeds from the sale of this Birds of Play deck will be donated to environmental justice initiatives. All funds from our Kickstarter will go towards the printing of decks which will then be sold to raise funds for the North Carolina Environmental Justice Network.
