About the King Vulture

  • Scientific Name: Sarcoramphus papa
  • Wingspan: 4 to 7 ft.
  • Habitat : Densely forested tropical lowlands in Central and South America
  • Conservation Status: Status: Least Concern (Population decreasing)
  • Fun Fact: The King Vulture does not have a larynx, also known as the voice box. Instead, it makes low wheezing and croaking noises in courtship and commonly uses bill flaps as for intimidation!
