  • Habitat : Forests, savannas, shrublands, grasslands, wetlands, and deserts of North and South America
  • Conservation Status: Least Concern (Population stable)
  • Fun Fact: American kestrels are commonly used for studies of animal stress physiology. Some experimental findings have shown that the American kestrel will increase its oxygen consumption and metabolic rate to counteract heat loss in cold and wet climates!
